I’ve been inspired to do this by Rachael over at Helpless Whilst Drying. I have so many products which do the same job as each other and I think it’s about time I cut that down, especially as I will be moving again in 4 months and right now I’d fill a massive box with the number of products I have, so it’s time to get them gone…
Haircare
Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair
As well as having too many products, I’m a little bit broke right now and I want to cut down on unnecessary spending. As part of this, I’ve collected my Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower Gel from Dom’s flat as I don’t shower there anymore (I live down the road from him now and my shower is much better) so there’s no need to keep them there. I also think my hair is too used to my current set so it’s time to switch it up for a little bit, even if it’s just a quarter of a bottle of each.
I’m not a massive fan of these, they are meant for fine hair s they can make mine a little greasy which isn’t great for regular use, but I think I can handle it for what’s left of these.
I have had this for a LOOOOONG time now. It’s just not something I get through very quickly but I’m liking it sprayed on my hair when wet if I then twist it and pin it up to dry like that through the day as it keeps my hair out the way and once dry it has a nice natural curl. While I like how this looks, I’m not sure this spray is really necessary for it so I don’t think I’ll miss it when it’s gone so it’s time it was used up.
Shower Gels
Imperial Leather Soothing Camomile & Bamboo Milk Shower Cream
There is actually a lot less in this than I had expected which makes me think Dom may have used it when he ran out of his. I want this gone because it just isn’t anything special, I neither love it or hate it, but I know I have some shower gels I do love sat waiting so it’s time to get this finished and move on to those.
Aveeno Daily Moisturising Yoghurt Body Wash – Apricot & Honey
This is one that I can’t wait to get rid of. It’s not that I dislike it, I actually find it quite pleasant, but this is my third bottle and I just want to use something else. It smells nice in the tub but when I actually dispense it, the smell has a much more chemical undertone and it’s just not as nice, so I want to get rid of it.
Body Moisturisers
Body On Demand Everyday Body Boost Sorbet
I’m on a mission at the minute, not just to use products up, but to also moisturise my body more than once a month. I actually started this before Christmas and have already used up 3 or 4 products from it, but I still have a few to go. With moisturising daily now, I’ve not got a lot of this left and I want to keep that going. It’s a pleasant enough moisturiser, but it’s not anything special. The scent doesn’t stand out to me and it doesn’t feel luxurious or special to use so I’m not that bothered by it and won’t miss it when it’s gone.
This is next on my hit list after the Body on Demand Sorbet. I have about half left after using it when I first got it a good year or so ago now. This is an ok moisturiser, it just isn’t as good as my standard Aveeno Cream and again, doesn’t feel like anything special. I’m certainly not going to miss it… I’m also really looking forward to trying something new and hopefully more luxurious after these two are done.
Facial Cleansers
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution
This is a holy grail of mine. It’s the only Micellar water that hasn’t irritated my skin in one way or another, even the Garnier one doesn’t work for me. I will 100% reuse this as I do love it, but at the same time I’m trying not to use this sort of thing and to use proper cleansers instead. I’m not sure if I’ll rebuy this straight away or not, but for now as there isn’t much left, it’s time for this bottle to be finished.
Botanics Organic Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm
This is another product which I have been loving, but I also have the Balance Me Balm which does the same job, this is just the one with the least left. It takes off makeup very well and feels nice on my skin, although it can be hard to get it off my fingers.
Facial Moisturisers
As much as I love my Aveeno Cream, these 100ml tubes are very difficult. I find it hard to get the last of the product out but I’m going to do my best to empty these and I think I would rather get a little tub to decant from my larger bottle into than to buy these again.
I tried a lot of samples of this and thought I loved it but after more regular use, I’m less certain now. I definitely prefer and would only use this in the morning as it is lighter and sinks in easier than my Aveeno however, this doesn’t react all that well with my eczema. On some days this is lovely, but if my skin is even slightly sensitive, this really hurts to apply. For this reason, I will happily use it up but I won’t repurchase a moisturiser which isn’t good for my eczema.
Alpha H Clear Skin Daily Moisturiser With Glycolic Acid
Just the title of this makes me nervous for my eczema if I’m honest. I received this in the ASOS box that I got back in October and, while I like a lot of the products, I just couldn’t bring myself to use this. This contains a lot of ingredients which I tend to steer clear of and I’m just not sure I can use this. I may have to pass it on to a friend who would prefer it, but we’ll see.
Skin Treatments
The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection EssenceThe Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence
This is a product I actually really like, but I’ve had this tube for almost a year now and it’s time it was used up. I’m quite bad for remembering daily SPF if I’m not wearing makeup (as I haven’t been most days) and this just isn’t getting the use it should. I do intend to use this up soon and either replace this with the same or something similar, I haven’t decided which yet.
This was a firm favourite of mine for a little while, being used twice a day however, it just stopped having the same impact it did. It’s expensive so I want to use every last drop, but I think I’ve found something better now.
Skincare Samples
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye & Omorovicza Omoressence
I always forget about samples sachets that I get with other purchases. I find them quite hard to use, a little awkward and I never know if they will hurt my eczema. These have been lost at the back of my drawer for a while now so I’m going to bring them forward and try using them on a day when my skin isn’t sensitive.
Fragrance
Oh, I did, and sort of still do, love this perfume. I first got it 4 years ago and this is my second bottle. The problem is, both bottles are still in use as I kept one at my parents’ and one at university. It’s about time this was cut down to just one bottle as they are certainly taking up space. This has the least left, so this is the one to be used up.
I brought this in the summer I think. Rose Jam is my favourite Lush scent, I seriously love it and on first spray, I thought this was amazing. Now I’ve got it and sprayed it away from the store, it’s so, so strong. While I do like a strong scent, this bottle isn’t great for it as the spray is too heavy, it’s way too much for me. It’s also way too big to stand up with my other bottles on the shelf they are on and is annoying laying down so I’m going to make an effort to use this up.
Nailcare
Barry M Mani Mask Camouflage, Colour & Condition
I got all three of these nail products over a year ago when I was having real issues with my nails peeling. As they gradually got better and I got busier, I just stopped taking care of my nails and these have been sat around ever since. I like this mani mask as it evens out the colour of my nails, but it also peels very easily which I’m not a fan of. As these are so old now, they need to be used up before they dry up.
Barry M Iron Mani Nail Hardener
This works ok as a hardener, but it peels very quickly and I’m not sure it really did a whole lot for me, I think I’d like to try more professional versions in the hope they would work better.
Barry M Super Mani 7 in 1 Treatment
This feels better than the Iron Mani and apparently has a lot of nourishing and strengthening properties, but again, I just didn’t notice a difference and it starts to peel within a couple of days which is to quick for how lazy I am.
Lip Balms
Burt’s Bees lip balms are and probably always will be my favourites however, this one just doesn’t do the job for me. It smells like the wooden table polish my mum had when I was a kid and it feels a lot harder than the others, so it just isn’t a hit with me. I’ll be glad when I’ve finished this.
I’d love to know what products you want to use up to make space in your collections, let me know in the comments!
