Glamour Club – Kat Von D Studded Kisses Lipstick, Tattoo Liner & Perfumes

A while ago now I joined the Glamour Beauty Club for which you get samples to test and review. You are emailed when there is an item to test which you can either accept or decline. The first sample I accepted was actually a set with the Kat Von D Studded Kisses lipstick in mercy, a tattoo liner and the Saint & Sinner perfumes in cute little samples sizes.

Kat Von D Studded Kisses Lipstick – Mercy (1.2g sample)

I love miniature lipsticks when they are literally diddy versions of the full size. They are perfect for putting in my bag when I’m out and about so this sample is fantastic for that, especially if I need to change up my colour to something fancier than my every day. The packaging of the studded kisses lipstick is quite unusual, as is the case for most Kat Von D products though. The outer bullet is matte black and covered in pyramid studs and on the top is the KVD logo in the gothic font.

As is generally the case with higher end lipsticks, this has a really lovely scent to it with no chemical undertones. It smells like vanilla, but not to strongly so it’s just a nice pleasant scent which doesn’t put you off using the lipstick.

On the Kat Von D website, this is described as a “romantic garnet berry” shade, which does describe it quite nicely. It’s a deep red with purple undertones and a metallic tone from fine red glitter. Despite the metallic hints, this does dry down matte. The colour isn’t a type I wear very often, but it did make a nice change.

To apply, it felt a little dry and rough. I think the roughness was from the glitter and the dryness because my lips are generally very dry. Once it was on, it was very comfortable and didn’t feel overly dry which is also why I think the dry application was down to the condition of my lips, not the lipstick. As is the case with a lot of dark lipsticks, it takes a couple of swipes for even coverage, but this is achievable.

I do enjoy the shade and it makes a nice change, but I don’t think I would buy the full size. I would definitely like to try this in shades that I tend to reach for more though, so a deep nude or a red shade. Once I actually have money, this will certainly be on my list.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – Trooper Black (0.2ml sample)

This has standard liquid liner pen packaging with the Kat Von D branding. When you open and close it, there is an extra internal sprung sleeve which makes it feel just that bit more luxurious, as you would expect from the price tag.

The tip of the pen is reasonably long and flexible, similar to a brush paint pen as it does look as though it has bristles instead of a solid pen tip. The first time I swatched this, the pigmentation was terrible, it just wasn’t good at all, but after I had run it back and forth a couple of times, the liquid seemed to be coming through properly and the pigmentation was there properly.

On the eye, this has great lasting power, it doesn’t wear off through the day and it only takes one swipe on the eyelid to get the expected line, so there’s no need to go back and forth in one place.

Overall, this feels very comfortable and long lasting, however I’m not sure I would necessarily want to pay £16 for it. I think I need to try comparing this to my other eyeliners first.

Kat Von D Saint & Sinner Perfumes (1.5ml sample of each)

The little sample tubes were adorned with pictures of the patterns on the full-size bottles in white for saint and black for sinner. I’ve only seen pictures of the full-size bottles but I do think they are very pretty. I’m not the best at describing scents if I’m honest, but I’ll give it my best shot!

Saint – This is a very sweet floral scent which, for me, is perfect for during the day. It’s a very pretty girly scent and I really enjoy wearing it. The main scent I get from this is a melon type scent which is odd because it actually contains:

jasmine and Tiaré flower top notes with a delicious heart of mandarin, caramel, and sparkling Mirabelle plum. Vanilla, sandalwood, and creamy musk build to the romance of the fragrance”

So, I have no idea what I’m smelling in it for my brain to connect it to melon, but it is very lovely.

This is a much deeper scent with a spicier feel to it. I like wearing scents like this in the evening when I’m heading out somewhere. Despite the spicier scent, there is definitely still a floral hint to it. The website describes this as:

“Cinnamon spices up vanilla and white florals at the heart of the fragrance, while base notes of vetiver, patchouli, and wood form the deeper, darker nuances”

If you love fragrances like Diesel Loverdose Tattoo or Dior Poison Girl, this will be right up your street.

Personally, I prefer saint to sinner as it makes a nice change from my usual fragrances, but both are equally lovely. The Kat Von D website suggests trying the two scents together which smells really lovely too.

Overall, I was very excited to try some more Kat Von D products and they did not disappoint. I would very much like to buy the full sizes of the perfumes and try some other shades of the lipstick.
