I have definitely declared my love of Aveeno Cream many times over as I have been using it for something like 3 years now. In the 6 months I have also been using other products from the brand that I now feel like I can’t be without in my routine. These new products are all ones I use on my body and not my face, only the cream goes on my face.
As well as the eczema I get on my face, I get patches on my shoulders and legs which get very dry and itchy, especially in the colder months. This year I found that my usual moisturisers and body butters weren’t cutting it so I searched for something new and where better to search than the brand that produces my trusty face moisturiser. In my search, the following 3 products have become constants in my after-shower routine.
Just a quick thought – Aveeno produces wheat based products so obviously steer clear if you are allergic!
This is the first product I tried back in October and since then I have used 3 bottles. I love it. This can be added to a bath or it can be used directly on the skin. I prefer to use it on my skin as the last thing in the shower. I find that this restores the moisture stripped by my shower gel and stops the tight and itchy feeling I start to get as soon as I leave the shower. If I use this I feel like I don’t have to immediately rush to moisturise. Not to mention, as soon as I started using this, the eczema patches on my arms and legs got better. This is 100% a holy grail for me now.
This pours out of the bottle as a runny beige oil which turns milky when water is added. I think one of my favourite parts of this is the smell, it’s like the ice cream cone you get at the beach with a 99, delicious and not at all chemically.
Sadly, in my rush I picked up the daily moisturising oil instead of the bath and shower oil last time and it just isn’t rich enough for my skin and the eczema patches are rearing up again, help!
I picked this up to try after Christmas. I found that if I used the cream on my legs/shoulders/back, it would ball up in patches and didn’t go on smoothly so I decided that something lighter would be better, that’s where this came in. The lotion is a lighter version of the cream, it’s not as thick so it goes on smoother and sinks in faster, boosting the effects of the oil if I use this when I get out of the shower. The smell of this is fairly neutral if a little oaty, much like the cream and it is the same colour too. This comes in both a tube or a pump bottle. When the tube I have runs out I will get the biggest pump bottle I can so I don’t have to go without it! I feel like I’m working through this tube in no time at all, I had better stock up!
Again I really recommend this if you want something a bit lighter than a body butter to properly moisturise the skin.
The thought process that led me to this was that as lovely as the lotion is, it still takes time to sink in which you don’t always have when you are rushing to get ready for work, but because this is even lighter it sinks in within seconds and still leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft. This doesn’t quite have the moisturising power of the lotion but it does still last the day and alleviates any eczema flare ups I may have.
The smell of this has less of an oaty smell and reminds me more of camomile lotion than the others. I think the smell of that is stuck in my brain after I used it to lessen an allergic reaction so I can always tell when something smells similar! Personally, I find this quite soothing and it’s still very subtle so I don’t think it would be an issue.
Overall I love this as my go to morning body moisturiser, I first got it when the brand released it and I am now on my second can so that shows just how much! Although this definitely doesn’t last as long as I would like for the price, compared to some it isn’t that bad and as it leaves my skin feeling good while sinking in quick, for me it is worth it.
So there we go my 3 new additions to my Aveeno collection which have straight away become holy grail products! Do any of you use these? I would love to know your thoughts!
