So as my birthday was last week and I treated myself to a lot of presents (who doesn’t!) as well as being very lucky to have received a couple of beauty products from friends and family, so I have decided to do a haul post!
From the photo above, you can see I did go a little bit crazy… but we are all allowed to occasionally, right? This haul would technically include all of my recent Bare Minerals purchases too, however, as I have already done a post on those I decided not to include them, but you can check out my post on them here.
Anyway, the first place I went was The Body Shop. Here I decided to get a couple of make-up items, and picked up my £5 birthday gift (thanks to The Body Shop Rewards Card).
I have been really wanting to try out a bronzer as I haven’t used one before. I did get one with the Bare Minerals set, but it seems very dark, so I want to start off with something more subtle. Cue the Body Shop Honey Bronzer. I got this is the shade 02: fair matte. It is a subtle, light shade that isn’t too orange, it is also completely matte which makes it much more wearable in my opinion.
I also saw the Brush on Radiance beads and couldn’t resist how pretty they looked so I decided to get those too. There are 3 shades of shimmery beads; pink, peach and yellow-gold which create a really pretty golden shimmer. There were a couple of offers on at The Body Shop at the time, “buy one get one half price” and “£20 off when you spend £40”. It worked out cheaper for me to get more products and use the latter than to use the former with the two above products. So I decided to get the Smoky Poppy Blush Brush. I do think that this is overpriced at £16, but with the deal I couldn’t resist how pretty it was. Finally, I was able to collect my £5 birthday gift. For this I chose the Eyelash curlers. If you read my previous post here, you will know that I have been unsure about trying some, however, as these were free, I decided to get them. I have only noticed a slight difference really, but it is enough for them to become a regular product in my everyday makeup bag.
Over a few days I picked up several nail products. First I got Barry M Matte Nail Paint in both “Rossili” a bright pink, and “Cancun” a bright turquoise shade. I also got the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in “Chai”. I haven’t tried any of these yet as I had a gel maincure, but I love the colours and I will do a post on these once I have had a chance to try them out. I also got the Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Hardener and Diamond Strength Diamond Shine Base and Top Coat. I love the hardener, I have used it a few times and my nails are both looking and feeling better. I have also tried the base & top coat, but I haven’t formed an opinion on it yet, although it does take longer to dry than I would like. The final nail product I got was the Maybelline New York Color Show Nail Lacquer in 104: Noite De Gal. I got this because it matched the colour of my gel nails and these started to chip and peel so I used this to touch the gel nails up, it wasn’t amazing, but it was good enough.
On to lipsticks! I feel as though I am a bit late to the party here, but I am finally trying the Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipsticks! I decided to get 2 matte in shades 107 and 111 as well as 1 of the Lasting Finish Lipsticks in shade 37. I am really annoyed though, because I dropped the latter and it has broken, I will still try to use it with a brush though I haven’t done so yet, as I am still to try all three of these.
I was also lucky, like many bloggers were recently, to have been able to claim a free sample of the Burberry Kisses Hydrating Lip Colour in Shade No.85 Sepia. I am not going to say much about this as I intend to do a full post but I have to say I am already loving it. The photo below is one I posted on Instagram of me wearing it.
The last lipstick, I received as a birthday present from a very good friend of mine. It is the MAC Satin Lipstick in Brave. You may remember my spring wishlist post in which I declared how much I was lusting after this lipstick and I have to say it does not disappoint! I have worn it every day since my birthday and it is the perfect pink nude for me. I love it so much and it has definitely set me off on a path towards MAC as this is my first product from them, but certainly not the last!
I said it wasn’t the last… as you can see from the photo, I could not stay away from MAC after how amazing Brave was, so I decided to start my own MAC quad palette. Initially, I got the palette alongside the shade on the right; Sable. This is a really pretty warm brown shimmer shade which I have been enjoying using through the crease.
I then learnt about the House of Fraser Beauty Confidential event… when you buy one of their selected products and another beauty product, you get £10 off. The naked 3 palette is another product I have been lusting after for a long time and as it was one of the selected products, how could I say no? I haven’t used this yet as it only arrived today, plus it just looks so beautiful!
The other beauty product I got for the offer was my second MAC eyeshadow; Expensive Pink. This is a really pretty, peach-pink shade with gold shimmer that I swatched and just could not resist!
The next two products I received from another very close friend for my birthday. I was given this lovely two sided travel mirror with a stand, one side is a regular mirror and the other, 5x magnification. I have been wanting a mirror like this for a while, the magnified side will be perfect for eyebrow grooming and it will be very useful when I am camping for the Shell Eco-Marathon in May. It is a really good size for use when applying makeup and the stand means that there is no awkward trying to hold it during application. The other product was a Tangle Teezer. All I have to say about this is… Why haven’t I used one of these before!?! It is incredible, there is still a little bit of tugging but nowhere near as bad as with my other hair brushes. I also feel as though, instead of ripping through the knots and tangles, this does help to untangle. This is a new staple to my collection and I am trying to justify the cost of the travel version with the cover for in my bag.
Continuing with new staple products… the last item in this haul is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I got this recently in the hope that it would remove my gel eyeliner as my previous eye make-up remover just didn’t cut it. This definitely does a much better job, however it doesn’t quite remove the liner completely, I will therefore also try the Garnier 2-in-1 Eye Make-up remover soon. This has still reached my staple collection though because I like having a full face make-up remover to use before I use my main cleanser, I just feel as though my face is full cleansed and all of my make-up is properly removed.
So there we have it! A very large haul, I think I need to cut back on the beauty purchases for a while…
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post, please let me know your opinions of these products below.
Thanks for Reading! 🙂
